1. Lakers (3-0)
When Saturday’s game against the Nuggets got close Kobe took over scoring 14 points in the 4th quarter. Huge game next Sunday for Lakers as they host the Houston Rockets.
2. New Orleans (3-0)
James Posey is off to a terrific start in New Orleans averaging 13 points and 3 three pointers a game.
3. Houston (3-0)
Houston easily could have been number 1 this week rankings but strength of schedule means a lot to me and two of the Rockets victories have came against Memphis and Oklahoma. This week will be a good test for the Rockets as they face the Celtics, Blazers and Lakers.
4. Utah (2-0)
The Jazz were able to win their first two games without their star point guard Deron Williams who is expected to return for Thursday’s game against Portland.
5. Toronto (3-0)
Jermaine O'Neal's first week with the Raptors was a success he has given them 11.0ppg 7.3rpg and 2.0blks and the Raptors find themselves a top the Atlantic.
6. Atlanta (2-0)
The Hawks appear to be feeding off of last years playoff run as they got two quality wins against conference foes the Magic and the 76ers. Wednesday game against New Orleans should be special.
7. Detroit (2-0)
The Pistons got their season off to a good start winning the first two at home, what has been most impressive is the production of the Pistons bench scoring 38 and 55 in both games respectively. The Pistons play their next 8 of 10 games on the road
8. Boston (2-1)
I still can't believe the defending champs got out toughed by the Indiana Pacers. I won't jump to conclusions but this loss should be a wake up call to the Celtics that teams are going to come out to play them this year. I can barely wait for Tuesday contest against the Rockets.
9. Phoenix (2-1)
Amare Stoudemire has looked amazing in Terry Porters slow it down offense, expect him to have a huge year, the Suns begin a four game east coast trip beginning with New Jersey on Tuesday.
10. Indiana (1-1)
Again I don't want to draw to many conclusions from the Pacers defeat of the defending Champions but Danny Granger could be having an all star season. He was out of the game for probably 30 seconds against the Celtics after losing two teeth diving for a loose ball. Its no wonder Bird gave him a $60 million dollar extension.
11. Milwaukee (2-2)
Luke Ridnour is out with a back injury but he will have a hard time getting his starting job back with Ramon Sessions averaging 15ppg 8.5apg and 4.5rbg in two starts.
12. Dallas (1-1)
They lost a tough game against division rivals Houston Rockets but they rebounded with a victory against the Wolves. You have to ask yourself how does Jason Kidd do it, 8.0ppg 9.5apg 8.0rpg 4stls.
13. Charlotte (1-1)
Larry Brown has shelved Sean May until May is able to get in shape, I guess May's 2 points and 3 rebounds in the season opener didn't wow his new coach. Jared Dudley started in his place on Saturday as the Bobcats defeated the Heat.
14. Cleveland (1-2)
Lebron missed two free throws with under 2 minutes to go against Celtics on Opening Night and was severely outplayed by Chris Paul on Saturday Night. On Saturday Lebron finished with 15 points and 13 assists, Chris Paul finished with 24 points and 15 assists, ouch.
15. Philadelphia (1-2)
THe 76ers were outscored 29 to 13 in the fourth quarter Saturday against the Hawks and let ,what appeared to be a solid win in the making go down the drain, baawhooosh!
16. Orlando (1-2)
The Magic have gotten off to an awfully poor start barely competing against the Hawks in their season opener and then they lost a dog fight against the Grizzlies, yikes!
17. Denver (1-2)
There is a rumor that is quickly spreading around the internet that the Nuggets have offered Allen Iverson to the Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups, this trade could work for both teams.
18. Portland (1-2)
Greg Oden went down midway thru the first game of his NBA career, but he will be back in 2 to 4 for weeks but they will miss him against the Jazz and Rockets this week.
19. San Antonio (0-2)
In their first game of the season Duncan and Parker combined for 64 points and in game two they combined for 51 points and both efforts translated into a loss, I am officially pressing the panic button on the Spurs season.
20. Chicago (2-1)
Prior to this week I was convinced OJ Mayo would win rookie of the year but after watching Derrick Rose's first week in the NBA it is clear to me that Rose is by far the best rookie in the NBA. The Bulls though are poorly constructed and changes will need to be made, they have too many guards and they don't have a big man who is able to create his own shot.
21. Golden State (1-2)
Marco Belinelli, Marcus Williams and Anthony Randolph have not played one minute this season, rookie Demarcus Nelson out of Duke has managed to crack the Starting lineup and Brandon Wright has managed to play 15 minutes in 2 games.
22. New Jersey (1-1)
The Nets haven't looked to bad but lets see how they do against Phoenix, Detroit and Indiana this week.
23. Washington (0-2)
Wizards coach Eddie Johnson benched Andray Blatche for his poor defensive effort against the Pistons, things are not looking good for the Wiz.
24. Memphis (1-2)
The Grizzlies, I already can tell, will probably be my favorite terrible team to watch this season. They run they hustle and play hard. Darrell Arthur had a double double in the season opener and Marc Iavoroni got so emotional he started Arthur the next game where he missed all six of his field goal attempts.
25. Miami (1-2)
Dwayne Wade has looked pretty good against mediocre competition (Knicks, Kings and Bobcats) but the Heat are going to need Wade to do a lot more if Miami has any playoff hopes.
26. Oklahoma City (1-2)
The Thunder (a ridiculous name by the way) got their first home win Sunday against the Wolves, the fans better enjoy it because wins will be few and far between.
27. Minnesota (1-2)
Kevin Love is having a slow start to his NBA career, he may be to unselfish and he is going to need to do a better job asserting himself.
28 New York (1-3)
I admit I was very excited watching the Knicks Wednesday night as they defeated the Heat, but things got back to normal as they lost their next two games to the 76ers and Bucks.
29 Sacramento (0-3)
The Kings have played poorly to start the season only bright spot so far has been rookie Jason Thompson who averaged 13.3ppg and 7.3rpg in his first week of his career.
30. LA Clippers (0-3)
They opened the season by losing by 38 points to the Lakers, things got worse as Baron Davis injured his hip in a overtime loss to the Nuggets. Davis will be out for Monday's game against the Jazz
