What I Saw This Weekend

By Zoo
Friday Night:

The Knicks officially made their move to not only to snag the Don James in the summer of 2010 but add one of his Hall of Fame caliber draft classmates Flash Wade or CB4 as well. Gone from the Knicks are Crawford, Zack and Collins which represent almost 30 million in salary for the 2010-11 season. D'Antoni turned Steve Nash into a two time MVP what would he do for a player the caliber of Lebron James or Dewayne Wade? I for one would like to find out ...

New Jersey 129 Toronto 127
Vince Carter who was known as Air Canada a few years back returned North of the Border with a bunch of Nets and put on a special crunch time performance. The Nets who were down by 18 at one point in the 3rd quarter saw 1/2 man 1/2 amazing hit a long contested 3 at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime and then slammed home a reverse alley-oop with 1.5 seconds left to win the game. Vince finished with 39 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. All NBA stud Chris Bosh led Toronto with 42 points and added 9 rebounds. It is games like this that have to frustrate Vince Carter fans because its not like he can't do this every single night ... he is talented enough to get it in whenever he wants.

On Fire Friday:
DJ Augustin, Charlotte - 26 points (7-11 3pt fg)
Roger Mason, S.A. - 29 points (7-10 3pt fg)

Dominating the Glass:
Andrew Bogut, Milwaukee - 17 rebs, 14 pts.
Dwight Howard, Orlando - 17 rebs, 24 pts and 5 blks.

Saturday's Action:
Houston 100 Orlando 95.
Yao vs. Dwight. The Shanghai Shake against the Beast. East met West as the two likely All Star starting centers went heads up. Yao had game highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds while Dwight Howard finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Yao certainly got the better of this matchup in all phases of the game. It will be real interesting to see how it all goes down when these two meet again.

Q Rich, New York - 34 points (7-13 3pt fg), 12 rebounds and 2 assist.

Joe Johnson, Atlanta - 4 points (1-8 fg, 0-2 3pt.)

X Factor:
Shaq, Phoenix - 19 points, 17 rebounds and 2 blocks

Minnesota 106 Detriot 80.
At first glance one would think the score was somehow reversed and because the game took place at the Palace in Aburn Hills Michigan one would be at least 99% sure of it. Well the 1 percenters would be the majority on this night. Not only was the score correct but the game was not even that close. The Wolves won their first road game as Randy Foye scored 23 points and added a career high 14 assists. The struggling Pistons lost for the 3rd time in 4 games and are just 4-5 since acquiring Allen Iverson. This is the same Piston team that has gone to 6 straight Eastern Conference Finals. They add a first ballot "Hall of Famer" and just like that fall into mediocrity. Coincidence I think not.

Sunday's Stud:
Elton Brand, Sixers - 23 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block.

Sunday's Stinker:
Corey Maggette, Warriors - 7 pts (2-10 fg, 0-3 3 pt fg)
